I am a writer, photographer, curator and lecturer based in Bath, England.

My photography focusses on my domestic environments and the interaction between personal, environmentatl and historical narratives as experienced through the family. My book. All Quiet on the Home Front is available here

I write on photography for the BJP,  Photomonitor, Magnum, World Press Photo Witness, the Photography Museum of Humanity, and other publications.

You can read the latest in my series on Photography, Truth and Ethics on World Press Photo Witness.

And you can read one from my series on inspirations for practice on Magnum Photos here

I am also co-writer and editor of  Magnum in China, which was published in October 2018.

In education I run independent workshops on theory, practice and story telling. I also teach at UWE, University of Gloucester and Bath Spa.

I also run individual tuition tailored to phootgraphers seeking to expand their photographic, historical and critical voice and embed this within my practice. This tuition is aimed at students of all levels and looks at starting projects, developing a photographic voice and learning how to write about your work on multiple levels. The tuition takes place over 6 months to a year, is suitable for all levels, and is especially made for those who have studied some photography and now need a focus and confidence. If you have a lack of confidence in language or writing, these will be overcome. Email me at colinpantall@yahoo.co.uk and I will tailor make a programme of study specifically for your interests.

I am  available for discussions on talks, workshops and curriculum development as well as other collaborations.
